Welcome to my Blog

Hey Everyone,

Welcome to my Blog.  The purpose of this blog is to encourage people and update them on what God is doing in my life and ministry with Eternal Riders.  I often have people say to me, Dallas are you coming or going and where have you been.   Well now you know ;).

First off I would like to share a little bit of my heart with you.  I have spent the past four years working semi-full time with Eternal Riders as the Canadian director.  It has been an exciting and busy journey that has allowed me to travel and experience many awesome adventures.  However, that it is not the main reason I partnered with ER.

In 2008 I was attending Eston College working towards my Bachelors in Biblical Studies.  It came time for me to do an internship.  I was given the opportunity to do it with Pascal Hardy, the Eternal Riders founder, at the world headquarters in Maui, HI.  Hawaii right? No brainer.  However, the prayer on my heart was that God would use my internship to challenge me on a deep level in everything I had learned from school, as well as, lead me in the calling He has for me.  I was not convinced this would take place with Eternal Riders, but I realized this was a good opportunity to see if God was indeed calling me to work with ER.

My time in Maui was spent putting together the Eternal Riders (NLT) New Testament Bible, as well as doing local surf outreaches and helping out at our ER surfer church. It was all I had asked God to do.

There was one point where Pascal and I had been in the office everyday for two weeks and no surfing.  We were working hard at some of our deadlines.  I am not much of an office person and I had reached my max.  I told Pascal we need to stop and go surfing cause I couldn't do another minute in there.  He agreed.
We had went to a local surf spot and were surfing with Billy (an ER staff member).  It was pretty small and long periods with no waves. While we were there a local surfer had recognized Pascal (from his professional windsurfing days).  We talked the guy and shared with him what we do.  His name is Vince.  He went on to tell us about what was going on in his life.  He was married with two kids.  His daughter who was 6 years old had cancer, and the doctors were not giving him good news.  He said his marriage was falling apart because of the grief him and his  wife were dealing with.  All in all he was pretty broken.

Pascal, Billy, and I went on to share with Vince about Christ.  I was able to tell him that I could not relate to what he was dealing with, but I knew that Jesus could and he wanted to help him.  He was not intended to go through this on his own.  He agreed and gave his life to Jesus.  All on surf boards.  We got to go to his house  and pray with him.  He got plugged into a church by his house and his daughter is Cancer free!

I laid down that night and realized that because of who God made me and because of his working in my life I was able to be there at that moment.  It was totally put together by God.  I also realized that there is a harvest among people like Vince, and God was equipping me to bring the Gospel to them.  These are not people who would walk into a church or attend a Christian event.  But because we are also surfers, snowboarders, skaters, wakeboarders, we are able to take Christ to them.

Our mission is to go as missionaries to the extreme sports culture and industry, to make disciples, to challenge people to "Commit their riding to the Lord".  We do this by using our clothing label "Eternal Riders" to be present at events and contests, as well as, hosting our own events camps and contest.  We are able to share the Gospel on a Global level through the sports we love.

I would ask you to seek the Lord and see if you might partner with us financially and through prayer as we go forward in ministry.  Eternal Riders is not for profit organization, each of its staff members depend on personal support to be able to do ministry.  Our proceeds from the clothing line go towards doing outreaches and covering expenses.
